Yeah very hard conditions on all the Taupo rivers, as I said we need rain. The boaties are doing well off the river mouths and than only means one thing, they are stacking up out there. Being so low and clear, if you are going to fish the Taupo rivers between now and the rain, then use Fluorocarbon and have a #16 something on. I have found this type of rig works wonders in these conditions. Try to get onto the water early as well, and make those first casts count. I can’t stress this enough!!
I have fished out side of Taupo over the past couple of days and the trout here are all in very good condition. I managed to get over to the Mohaka yesterday and had a good day. The Trout are all fat and very active once hooked. All were taken on Prince Nymph and Quassi combo’s.
Tight Lines out there.
