Lake Taupo Trout Fishing And Guiding Report For The 14th Of April 2010

Hey All,

They say make hay while the sun shines and so I have been taking all the guiding I can get. In doing so I have fished a heap of water of the past few days.

As you can see the back country trout are fat and healthy. They have had a fairly good summer, even over in the Mohaka area. I have guided these two love birds on numerous occasions, however this was a special guide as they have just got married and this was their honeymoon!!

I fished the Tongariro on Sunday and had a ball. All the Trout took something nice and shinny and there were Browns mixed in there as well. I fished it the next day and it was hard as hell!!! I fished it again today and although we had a few on including a nice Brown lost in fast water it again was a little hard. The rain that we received pushed the level up and obviously washed out a few stagnant areas as the debris coming down was quite high. It should be great tomorrow and I know where I would be on this river.

We have a North westerly Blowing and the Waitahanui should get a few going through as well.

The TT river level shot up too and so there might be a few in there.

Winter is nearly here guys!

Regards Shane
