Hey All,

The Tongariro is the river to be on at the moment. As I mentioned in my last report there are a number of smaller trout in here but from what I have been told over the past few days, some VERY good ones as well. It is getting a pasting from anglers in the weekend so if you can try for the weekdays, do it.  Purple is doing some damage in the Nymphs and also Flash backs in the afternoon. Glo bugs first thing in the morning. Yes the lower section below the bridge is still fishing well, but honestly guys there is more river than that!!!

dscf2082Apparently the Tauranga Taupo is in “”superb nick”” and at times over the past few weeks has fired like nothing else! I love fishing this river when the pools are deep and it has those beautiful runs going on. Same thing on this river, small glowies in the morning with Flash backs and Smoots Bloody Marie(red) in the afternoon, small indicators too as it drops away.

The Hinemaiaia has had a great couple of weeks and apparently you are a fool to drive past this when the water is slightly up!! Some VERY good trout have come out of the Hine. I wonder what the rip is like at the moment?

Some excellent Jacks have come out of the Waitahanui rip and I hear a few have been pulled from the river as well. We all think these fish only run the river when a westerly blows but in fact the poor little buggers HAVE to go in there sometime and so will slip in at the most unexpected of times. Go the Waitahanui!!!

I am hanging out to go for a fish this weekend as I haven’t picked up a rod for days, yes I am starting to shake!

See ya out there soon.

Shane
