Hey All,

Yip winter is around the corner, we had a 0 deg start to the day and it was a real shock to the system. The only blessing was the sun was out all day and it warmed up fast.

I guided on the Waitahanui this morning and had quite a good day, there are some nice rainbows in there if you poke around. We got onto a group that were taking tiny white things off the surface. I have been firing out dry’s the size of small budgies and so wasn’t prepared for the size 20 or 22 that theses boys were scoffing down. Even the ducks were having a go at whatever these tiny insects were. I tied on a size 16 white caddis and bam we were in! There are a heap of Browns in here as well!

I haven’t heard from the Hinemaiaia for a while but this river normally starts to kick off the winter season with a few good frosts, I am going to have a fish in here this weekend so will get a better feel for it then. I need to find out if DOC are going to make good their talking’s of opening up the Hine to the Cliff pool, this winter season. Oh man that would be soooo cool.

I heard through the grape vine that the Rips have been going off!!

I am guiding on the Tongariro tomorrow so will report back in after that.

Have a great weekend.

Regards Shane
