leading up to the rain that we had last night, all the rivers were fishing hard. Low water conditions and little wind slowed the running trout down. That doesn’t mean they weren’t entering the rivers, its just they weren’t doing it in large numbers! Certainly if you want to make the most out of your fishing trips onto the Taupo Rivers, rain and wind is a massive bonus.
So the rain we just received blew out the Rivers south of the Hinemaiaia, although with the low Lake level, these rivers will drop fast and become very fishable for the middle of the week.
This morning I fished the Hine. Weeeeeeeee, had a blast. There were very few fisherman on the water early on but by 10.30 am the place was crawling with them. I just fished in all my usual spots and pulled trout in all of them. All the trout caught today were in great condition and really fought well.
