Lake Taupo Trout Fishing And Guiding Report For The 20th Of January 2012

Hey all,

I fished the Hinemaiaia last night. No one was in there and the river looked great. We got one nice little 2.5 pounder that fought well above its weight and dropped two others. I have done a couple of these late evening, two hour guides now and really enjoy being on the water at that time of day!

I checked out two of my rivers yesterday as well. This time I fished the dry fly and had an absolute blast. One of the streams holds good fish up to about 6.5 pounds while the other one has MILLIONS of fish in the 1 to 2 pound range. These are so much fun on the dry and I lost count real fast at how many I landed, (yes I actually landed fish yesterday). They were all hungry and some swam quite some way to scoff down the dry fly Chris gave me the other day, awesome tie mate!!!

It was good to hear the sound of the Cicadas and I hope we get a bit of an Indian summer as it hasn’t been a summer so far!!

take care and have a great weekend.

Regards Shane
