Lake Taupo Trout Fishing And Guiding Report For The 22nd Of July 2009

July 22, 2009

Hey All,

Just had a email in saying that the last post I put in can’t be read, Argh!!!! can’t have that, It was from an article I had written and I transferred it across, maybe it was corrupt, sorry guys that sucks.

I fished the Waitahanui today and had a blast, heaps of fisherman around and all complaining about a lack of trout. I was picking them up in little back eddies and secret little spots that they had obviously been pushed into. There is a heap of pressure on the Nui at the moment as the westerly wind that we have had over the past five days keeps pumping in. These trout are moving fast so move around. There are some fantastic trout in the river at the moment. We got onto a small group today that would have been five pounds each and full of fight.

I have my game plan all sorted for the Waitahanui V Tongariro fish off in August and I am really looking forward to kicking their weaselly arses. I have spotted some monstrous rainbows and Browns over the past week and things are only going to get better. It cracks me up that The lucky patrons Of the Tongariro River Motel are too scared to mention that they fish the Waitahanui, crack me up. Good on ya guys, good to get a bit of culture and skill into ya.

I am into the Tauranga Taupo all tomorrow for the first time in ages, I am not going to sleep well tonight as I am as excited as a labrador  pup.

I will report back in tomorrow, hoefully with pics of big silver trout.

Regards Shane
