Hey All,

Well I’ve talked about the trout moving in when the rivers come up and that you have to be here at these times…. Today was one of those.

If you fished the Taupo tribs then you probably did very well, I know we did.

Thursday night we obviously had a HEAP of rain and ALL the Taupo rivers were running high and coloured by Friday night. Even the good old Waitahanui was brown and quite unfishable by 4.00pm. We then got another big dumping of rain.

I was up early and checked the Tauranga Taupo river flow and noticed that it had dropped to a very respectable flow and so we headed that way.

I have guided Mike many times now and he is one of those clients that I always look forward to. Not only is he an excellent fisherman and sports a good sense of humour but he brings the trout!!!! Between him and Paul, ( his friend) they hooked into well over 30 good trout today. We pulled them right throughout the river and from all spots. Big Glo Bugs were the order of the day and once they got the hang of biffing them we “”SLAYED”””.

God I love guiding!!!

Hope you can get here, there are heaps of good trout in all the rivers and the condition of these silver beauties is WAY up on the past two years.

Regards Shane
