Great day on the water today, plenty of trout in all the rivers except the Waitahanui. This river has excellent colour but needs the wind to swing around to the West so some trout can be pushed through. At the moment it is hard going on the Nui!!
No reports in on the Hinemaiaia but the river level was up when I passed by at 2.00pm and it is overdue for a good run of trout. I would be very surprised if there was not a run going through there.
The Tauranga Taupo has a few freshies in there but you needed a nice big bright glowie to get the best result from this river today. very little pressure on here as I think most anglers saw the colour of the water and went to greener pastures. This will be a nice day on the water tomorrow if the level drops a wee bit and the colour changes to that milky green!
The Waimarino sucked again. I wonder if this little stream is getting netted at the river mouth as I have been in here a few times now and struggled in what I believe to be perfect conditions. It may be that I am doing something wrong but then lets face it, that could never be the case, (smile).
I had an excellent time on the Tongariro with trout in most pools that we visited, of course they weren’t as good as the Nui’s condition but they all made the rod bend.
Fishing in Taupo this week will be awesome, can you get here fast!!!!
