The rivers are going to all have a run of Trout after this rain. We have had steady wet stuff for the past 12 hours and it looks like it will continue on and off all weekend, keeping the levels up. Its Glo Bug Time!
Paul and I shot out to the Hine last Saturday for a good look. He had fished the river on Friday and done ok so we headed back over there. Anglers everywhere but we still managed a few silver freshies. These where all on the small side but fought well and had great flesh. All were taken on Glo Bugs apart from one older fish that gobbled down my Reaper.
On Sunday I fished the Waitahanui and did quite well again. We did a steady slow walk up from the Road and pulled trout in most of the places we stopped at. Once again the upper pools are a little empty but I am sure this will improve by the weekend.
Both the Tongariro and the Tauranga Taupo have come up in volume and so hopefully they will have trout moving through. All in all a great start to Easter weather wise, as long as it stops raining for a wee bit and levels drop to a fishable state.
be safe on the roads and the water.
