Lake Taupo Trout Fishing And Guiding Report For The 30th Of May 2014

Hey all.

Just a quick update for those who always check my page, just before the weekend.

The runs of trout have started in earnest. yes you might have to be “Johnny on the spot”, however if you are then the fishing will be great. I have heard some good reports from the Waitahanui. Last Sarurday was brilliant with a good steady run going through for most of the morning. Some big fish were taken as well. Go the Nui!

IMG_4938I fished the Hinemaiaia on Monday afternoon and found it to be a little slow considering the water flow and wind we had, however to really kick this river off we needed some good hard frosts and well…. we got those this week followed by more wind and rain. The Hine should fire. By the way if you come across a black cell phone on the tracks, the chances are its mine :( I picked up 6 reasonable fish in the Hine on Monday in about two hours but to be honest I thought it would have fished better.

The Tongariro would have been perfect Monday however the wind was nothing short of stupid and casting into that impossible! It has trout in there now though as I have had some decent reports.

This weekend should be busy on the rivers. If you don’t like other anglers then get on late in the morning as they are leaving use my Nymphs and hopefully you will do ok!
