Well it seems the opening day on the upper Taupo rivers was a busy one. I had fisherman through the shop yesterday who were going to camp overnight on the Tauranga Taupo to fish early this morning. The Hinemaiaia car parks all the way up the track were full of cars also. I am on baby sitting mode today and so can only drool at the thought of fishing for the next 12 hours. The weather is fantastic down here with little wind and clear skies.
Interesting to note that the Tongariro is having some fantastic fishing at the moment, the green cadis or anything like that is taking trout. Some of these are very fresh and of good size. The Tauranga Taupo also has good numbers of trout in there. A size 16 flash back pheasant Tail doing some damage on this piece of water. Man its December and there are trout everywhere!
Ok all you bug freaks out there and apparently there are many, can you please tell me what this fierce looking thing is. It has big wings but doesn’t really like using them and VERY sticky feet. I keep thinking it would look good floating down the Tongariro as a natural terrestrial.
Take care out there
