I have a new toy to play with. Kilwell have entrusted, (brave of them huh) their latest creation in rods, the SAS. So hopefully over the next few weeks I will have plenty of fish/rod photos for you. What i will say about this little beauty of a rod is POWER!!! I have the 8# and it is awesome. These rods have been designed to have two different interchangeable mid sections. They are a three piece rod; If you are fishing big water and need weight thrown or need a long cast then the stiffer mid section is excellent for this. If you are fishing smaller water or really want the best fight out of your fish then the softer action section can be replaced. At the moment I am using the stiffer section and so far I am VERY impressed with it. In fact I would have to say this would have to be the ideal rod for me!! I can throw huge weight with it and once I got used to the mending action it was like an extension of my arm. It plucks the line off the water from a simple water load with uncanny ease. I will put some pics on tomorrow once the batteries to the camera have charged, Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Ok I fished the Waitahanui yesterday and today. There are heaps of fish in here and they are all hungry. I stumbled into a section that had no fish at all and so moved quickly through until I found them again, when I did it was all on. Some of these fish are excellent as well. I talked to a guy as he was leaving with two very nice Jacks. he got them wet lining and the biggest would have gone 5.5 to 6 pounds.
The Hinemaiaia apparently has been fishing well all week . I had a few fish to smoke from there yesterday and they were good fish.
If you can get here over the next few days I am sure you will not be dissapointed, all the foul weather has pushed trout into all the rivers.
