Lake Taupo Trout Fishing Report For The 03rd of October 2008

Hey All,

dscf0005.JPGWell some good fish entered the Waitahanui over night with the strong SW blow that we have going on at the moment. I was up early and into the middle reaches starting at washerwomans and moving up. I picked up fish in all the pools and even in some of the shallow runs, this is a good sign!!

taupo-view-2-dscf0069.JPGAlso good reports from the Tongariro as well with some super fish coming out of the Poutu pool and Boulder reach, great to hear. Angling pressure was down this week as well, unless you fished the Braids!!! I had a nice email from John of Auckland who had read my home page for the first time and bought some Red Bodied Copper Johns, he slayed them in that section for two days solid, other anglers around him were fishless!! These little, # 14 and 16 flies from Feather Merchants are awesome at this time of year.

Apparently Lake O sucked on opening day, too windy!!!

I tested out the theory that Neoprene waders float even in deep fast water. Check out the video!!!

dscf4122.JPGI have had this Avery Harling reel in my shop ever since we took over and I want to get rid of it, normal retail is $72.00 but will sell it for $30.00 plus postage.

Hope you all have a great weekend, be safe on the water and on the roads.

Regards Shane
