Lake Taupo Trout Fishing Report For The 08th Of August 2008

Hey All,

dscf3764.JPGHere is the picture of the new rip that has formed just down from the car park on the Waitahanui.

I have been tutoring a  lady angler now for a few months just for an hour at a time. This morning we tried the upper pools on the Waitahanui. In the first pool we dropped two VERY good fish in a row and the look on her face reminded me why I enjoy this job so much! Now she can hook em I have to teach her how to land em.

Perfect conditions on the Waitahanui at the moment, the volume has come down but there is still colour in there. The Te Aroha, (Winter fishing Limit) must still be pouring coloured water in.

We have more rain happening at the moment and it might be enough to bring up levels again, ring if you are in doubt. The lake level is as high as I have ever seen and if there is a big SW or W blow it will be smashing onto the lake front properties! Mighty River Power I guess are struggling to let go of water due to the Waikato being so high, feast or famine huh guys!

Take care out there

Regards Shane
