Hey All,

dscf3651.JPGI packed up a lunch and a heap of water and walked the Tauranga Taupo today, getting onto the water at around 10.30am, there were three other vehicles in the car park when I got there and the river was flowing at around .450, this had come up from yesterdays rain but the river was crystal clear.

I started fishing as soon as I hit the water and picked up fish immediately and they were all good fish of about 3 to 4 pound. I took in the Axiom 5# and it did a brilliant job. Flies of choice were the Quasimodo in size 16 and the gun metal blue hot wired prince in #12, I also picked up the fish of the day a nice 4 pounder on the Mighty Mite, all these are the feather merchant flies and be bought from any good sports shop, check them out and definitely have them in your box!

dscf3693.JPGI over walked the fresh run trout that had obviously come in last night and started picking up some older trout. It won’t be long before I go in there with a dry and dropper as today was very hot on the river and the Cicadas started to chirp. I must have seen well over thirty nice trout in the time I was on there landing about 12. I even decided to bring a couple home for dinner.

The Taupo season is not done yet!
