God I hope this works!!
I guided this morning on the upper Waitahanui getting on nice and early. There are trout in there but in small groups. What I am finding at the moment is the quality has dropped a little bit. The fish are smaller and some of the them a little skinny in this system, still heaps better than last year but down on previous years. We really needed that size limit dropped!!!
I have had two beautiful fish dropped into me for smoking from the lower Hinemaiaia, these were 6 pound Jacks in prime condition. It seems that river has had a few good fish come out of it over the past few days.
Champagne Red Dot Glo Bugs did all the damage for us this morning. Happy Birthday Andrew I hope the fish you caught was a nice pressy. I have to mention Andrew as well. I guided him on Monday and as he was a beginner to Nymphing his skills were a little rusty. By the end of that day he had picked up a few skills. Today he put it all together and in the future will be a force to be reckoned with on the water, Watch out trout!! Well done dude.
We have a little bit of rain at the moment, it might not be enough to bring up water levels but the small drop in Baro pressure should move some fish.
