Hey All

dscf3948.JPGI forgot to turn the alarm off last night and so at 5.30 it went off in my ear. I lay there trying to go back to sleep but kept thinking of the river being full of trout. I finally got up at 5.45 and was on the river just after 6.15. It was full of trout!! I pulled fish all the way up the river using a single size 10 Glow Bug. heaps of small stuff around the 2.5 pound mark but a few solid hits as well. The buggers were hungry as some of the takes were seriously vicious. This was a hen that i decided to keep at Reids. When I got there I immediately landed two smaller fish and one big spent Jack, then it went dead. I was sure there had to be fish still in there and wondered if they were closer to the drop off and I wasn’t getting down fast enough. I added more weight and straight away landed this one and three others before it went quiet again.

sunset-dscn1314.JPGThis is going to be an excellent weekend for fishing in Taupo guys ,if you can get here then do it, I am sure you won’t be disappointed with the number of fish in all the rivers. Nice to have the Waitahanui full of them, I had my best day this season today for numbers of fish hooked up.

dscn1691.JPGA wee while ago I went out to the smoker to put some fish on and found this Giant Weta on the ground. My son was with me and I dared him to pick it up. He said “no way”and I gave him some fatherly  ribbing about being a Girl. It was at this stage that a group of very good looking young ladies who were staying at the lodge came over to have a look at it. Being the “man”that I am I picked it up and let it roam over my hand. These things have VERY sticky legs but generally move quite slowly. Steven had by this stage gone and got Lesley who arrived with the camera. All of a sudden the Weta decided to wake up and proceeded to run down the back of my arm and up onto my neck. Trying to sound every bit the man, (but slightly loosing control of the situation) I asked Steven to remove it. He actually shuddered and took a big step backwards. Lesley was by this stage in hysterical laughter as this spiny sticky bastard disappeared down my shirt. Screaming hysterically I tore off my shirt and ran around in circles! I hate Karma.

Have a great weekend.
