Lake Taupo Trout Fishing Report For The 14th August 2007

Hey all,

I didn’t get out today for a fish but managed to receive a few decent reports from fisherman who had.

The Tauranga Taupo is the river to be on at the moment, with trout holding all the way through. Straight red Glo Bugs did it for one angler today who reported the best day he has ever had. The flow was up and some of the crossings were hard going but the fishing was great.

After the weekend flogging that the Hinemaiaia got, angling pressure dropped off today and there were still some good fish taken out. I used a Fluro Orange and Flame Dot Glo Bug on here last week when the water colour was a little dirty and slayed them. The Hinemaiaia has always fished well with those sort of colours.

The Waitahanui now has a few fish spread through its length. The water is perfect at the moment and there have been some good fish taken. The rip looks great as well. All you night fisherman should be out there now that we are into the new moon phase.

Regards Shane
