I went for a good fish today in HEAVY rain, in fact I don’t think I have ever seen rain like it before. Because of this all rivers at present are unfishable, including the Waitahanui.
We picked up a few fish in the Hinemaiaia but that was starting to rise fast, by the time we got into the Waitahanui it was coloured and rising.
The Tongariro is a raging torrent and the Tauranga Taupo reached its early flood warning of 1.5. All the rivers will come down quickly however due to the low lake level, the water will literally be sucked out into the lake. Hopefully when they are fishable again the Trout will be stacked up in there.
