Lake Taupo Trout fishing report for The 08th of August 2007

Hey All

Not much happening on the Waitahanui, the reports that are coming in are fairly patchy. If you are after fish on this river I would suggest going through the lower pools quickly to see if anything has come in and if not then high tail it up to the top pools. There are a few fish holding up there. When the lake is calm, (we still have a westerly) try the rip, there have been some nice fish taken from there when fishable.

The Hinemaiaia is getting a thrashing. There are fish moving in there but the crowds of anglers are moving them through fast. The rip should be nice after the steady flow over the past five days, I will have to check it out myself.

The Tauranga Taupo has also had extra pressure. Some have been doing well and others not so. With the extra flow you may need to use more weight, this can be the deciding factor.

No reports from the Tongariro. On this topic however. I couldn’t sleep the other night and so came downstairs and started to read Ross bakers report, Lesley found me asleep at the computer ten minutes later, (smile).

I am out and about all tomorrow so will report in then.

Regards Shane
