Lake Taupo Trout fishing report for the 17th August 2007

Hey all,

Sorry for the lack of reports I have been unwell and have not been near the water! I have got a very busy week ahead of me now guiding and so will be out every day from now on.

There are plenty of trout moving through all the rivers at the moment. Some of these are still not in the best of shape but more and more good strong fresh run fish are making an appearance in the rivers. The Waitahanui had a good group of fish go through yesterday and again this morning, very little pressure on this river at the moment.

The Tauranga Taupo seems to be the river to be on, although angling pressure is very high.

Heaps of Trout in the Tongariro, even Ross has been seen catching them, so you know they are in there in numbers and fairly dumb with it.

The barometer is still showing rain in the forecast and we certainly have had our fair share over the past 24 hours with all the rivers in good winter condition. There are a few fishing competitions happening this weekend so exspect a few anglers on your favorite piece of water.

Untill tomorrow, take care

Regards Shane
