I haven’t had much of a chance to put my line on the water over the past 2 week, hence the lack of reports.
I personaly hope to carry on my guiding however it will most likely become a second role for a while. However I will ALWAYS be available for guiding while I live in Taupo, full time or part time.
From what I have heard! Sob Sob…….
The Tauranga Taupo is low and so it will be hard, but if you took your time through the water and went small and stealthy you should hit fish. Feather Merchants put out a Mini Glo Bug in Orange, red dot. This as your point fly can be deadly on this river using 6 pound Fluro. As I write this however there is a heap of rain about to hit the North Island and the chances are the TT will rise a little. If that does happen fresh trout should enter. Keep an eye on the flow chart!
The Tongariro certainly has fish in there. OMG there is sooooooo much water to fish on this river. One Guide who I know is Andrew Christmas. If you are looking for a guide who will “Try for you” then Andrew is up there. He has excellent knowledge and a high success rate on the Tongariro. Little plug for ya there bro, thanks.
We need some constant warm weather and it will all happen. I did here a Cicada while on the Whanganui this week but then the wind and rain came in and I am sure the poor little bugger froze!! Really looking forward to the summer season and fishing the back country rivers. I have a few new ones on the list to fish but there is just TOOOOOOOOO much water out there!!
