Lake Taupo Trout Fishing Report For The 29th of September 2008

Hey All,

dscf4111.JPGWell a very hard weekend on all the Taupo rivers by everyone who I have spoken to. We need a little of the wet and windy stuff to make these spawning Trout move again, (if they are there to move). The Rain we were supposed to have received fell well short and Sunday was an awesome day to be outside!

dscf4113.JPGI guided yesterday on the Waitahanui and although we landed two and hooked up on a stunning Hen, it was tough going. Stephan from SA is farming here in NZ and his boss shouted him a half day out for all his hard work. His questions on the fishery and how to attack it skill wise, were fun to answer and he picked everything up VERY quickly.

dscf4114.JPGI am off into the Whanganui today, (yes Mum I will be careful) on the Quad bikes to check out a couple of the beats. I have a few days booked in here for October and need to make sure nothing has changed and they are fishable. I sooooooooo would love to take my break down 7 piece rod in there, but don’t worry I won’t!! I am going to take the video in though and will edit the footage tonight and post that so you can get a feel for what it is like. Man I hate my job!

Regards Shane
