Lake Taupo Trout Fishing Report For The 30th of September 2008

Hey All,

dscf0011.JPGWell yesterday was fantastic fun and certainly has given me the confidence to guide successfully on the Whanganui. All the pools had trout in them and there were some excellent fish amongst them.

dscf1993.JPGThe water was very low and clear to my surprise and although this made the crossing easier in general, the algae growth from last summer has not entirely disappeared.  I am waiting on a new set of breath-ables and so wore my Neoprene’s in there. It  made rock hopping a little scary and so the going was slow.

dscf2011.JPGThe very first pool I looked into I spotted two fish of about 4.5 to 5 pounds. These glided off into the fast water but I got a very good look at them. From there up it was fish in every pool.

dscf2030.JPGI have taken some video footage of the Quad bike in and the river and pools. My computer programme that I use to splice the segments together has packed a sad on me and so I have had to “stack”the videos from U tube. They are all short though and should not take long to load and play, I hope you get the general idea of the terrain and beauty of this fantastic place.

Lance we are going to have a ball in there!!!

dscf4116.JPGSince the start of the season is about to kick off I thought I would special these Tappered leaders from Feather Merchants. They are great value at $6.25 and are essential for Nymphing and dry fly. Last year I used one for a whole week of fishing, so they last!!

Have fun tomorrow.

Regards Shane
