Lake Taupo Trout Fishing Report For The 31st Of August 2007

Hey All

With all the wind that we had last night it was not surprising a few fish entered the Waitahanui River, some of them very good fish. I have had a string of anglers in the shop today saying it has been the best day all season on this great piece of water. We even had a few wet liners in doing well on Orange Rabbits.

Likewise the Hinemaiaia seems to have benefited from the breeze although it is quite low.

The Tauranga Taupo is very low and clear and due to the thrashing it has received over the past couple of weeks the fish are spooky. Go small on this water with naturals and mini glo bugs in the late Mcroe colour range. approach the water you are going to fish with care, even getting down a bit lower.

The Tongariro seems to be holding a few fish as well, although as usual the condition is bad. A ten pounder came out of the Waitahanui rip this week, put that in your pipe Ross, thats about 8 pounds more than anything in the Tongarirorororor. If you want some decent fish the Waitahanui is the place to be.
