Lake Taupo Trout fishing reports For The 22 Of October 2007

Hey all

Wow the rivers were busy Sunday. As I passed the Tauranga Taupo at 8.30 am I counted 11 cars. The water conditions were perfect though with the flow showing .550 and slowly dropping. Like all the rivers down this way the wind would have been horrific on here. I fished the Waimarino and it was terrible at times. It was this fact that made us scuttle back to the Waitahanui and start down low. We picked up trout immediately, including the fattest hen I have ever seen. By 4.00 pm there were people everywhere, (probably due to the other rivers being blown out) and the fish had gone off the bite.

It is still blowing a gale out there, (SW) and cold to boot. It has pushed a few trout into the Waitahanui though.
