Hey all,

I fished the rips this morning, but forgot my camera so sorry no photo’s.

The Waitahanui has split into three and is not fishing well at all.

The Hine rip is a little better and I pulled two nice fish out of there early this morning before moving on. I used an intermediate line, mono trace and a size 6 LumoƂ Craigs Night time. I kept one Jack of about four pounds but put the other back to do its thing.

The Tauranga Taupo also produced some fish for me inside the rip using a Heave and leave and my full sinking line,(type 4). The flow was up a bit and there were obviously a few sitting just by the willows at the entrance. All good fresh strong fish.

The Waitahanui river has a few decent fish in the upper section but was very hard down low this morning. There are some very nice fish in there at present.

We didn’t get the rain we were supposed to, a little but not enough to colour things up. It is a very cold starry night out there now.

Take care regards Shane
