Yesterday, (Monday) was one of the hardest days I have ever had on the rivers with clients. We got skunked on the Waitahanui first up and so decided to hop over the hill to the Hinemaiaia. There we dropped three and landed one Jack that had been in the system for some time. From there we shot down to the Tongariro and fished some of the lower pools for one fish landed. A heap of ground covered for few fish!
Last night at about 6.00 pm the wind came up and blew silly for about 5 hours, this pushed a few fish into the Waitahanui and the Hinemaiaia. The fish from the Hinemaiaia are a little on the small side but there are some excellent fish in the Waitahanui as of this afternoon. I walked the lower river and picked up three little Hens but saw some excellent fish as well. Angling pressure was HIGH this afternoon.
