I have heard some pretty terrible things about this stuff, apart from killing dogs, it wipes out entire sections of the bush when they do their drops. As a back country fisherman I have seen it on the river banks, (green carrots), what does it do to the aquatic life. Only a small change to the food chain can result in a fishery that suffers. Would you drink the pristine water in a back country river if you thought it had 10/80 in it, I wouldn't!

Great topic, yes it kills dogs and anything else that eats it.  Or more likely kills after your dog eats something that has already been poisened. Horses, pigs, deer, all dead, they state it doesn't hurt birds but I beg to differ.  I mostly object to the random nature of the way it's 'dropped'.  Who knows what damage it can do to a small stream or river for that matter. What happens if the bucket's release on the helicopter or chute on a fixed wing sticks and the whole lot falls in?  Bet they haven't tested for that.  This stuff is now banned in most countries.  What makes DOC think they know better?  'Catch' speak to any serious hunter, they've all got horror stories.  It is not right to keep using it because they cannot find an alternative or should I say cheaper alternative.

We're all a little naive.  When have they ever cared about  'introduced' trout, deer, pigs etc

I know a while back quite a lot of 10/80 was dumped in the swamp out off the true right bank of the river towards the hills. There was an effort to gather it up as quite a few local dogs died after chasing animals in there. cant be good for a river system if it leaches in
