Why so many fish?

Hey catch , Vern here,I wonder if you can tell me why there are so many fish in the Tongariro at the moment.I have never seen so many at this time of the year.We counted over 20 just in the honeypot, and 15 in the Birches .I'd like to know if they are early runners or have spent the last few months recovering in the river.I kept 2, both very good nik , not super silver but still very good condition with orange flesh. The hen had eggs but not bulging with them and the jack was a solid fish, both were exactly 4 lbs.My mate kept 2 hens both similar amounts of eggs as mine. The others we caught were pretty good fish too. Both of us have fished for years but can't remember March being like this.ANY IDEAS?
I'm picking a stunning season........bring it on

Hey bigfish
Dude I've been saying it all summer, there have been heaps of fresh fish in the Tongariro. It could be the seasons have confused things within the fishery, or even better and this is the one that I am backing. I believe that we now have a whole new group of fish entering the system over summer, cold water, summer hatches and previous years of little angling pressure have probably had a positive influence for these fish to come in and make the river home over summer. Hell if the food supply is sucking in the lake then why not come in and chow down on summer hatches. There are a truck load of browns in there so maybe these Rainbows follow them up as well. It's all guess work and the fact that I have only fished the Tongariro for two years over summer I can't quite comment on what it was before this. As I have always said and this goes for fishing in the Moon Light, the less people fish these conditions the less is know about it. The fishing in the Tongariro over summer may have been this good for MANY years but because it is renowned as a WINTER fishery few people go there over summer, this means less reports!!. I believe through fishing the whole Taupo fishery this summer that it is an all year fishery with some fantastic fishing to be had.
