Hi Catch,

All depends on the green caddis you use.  I'll pre face this discussion with the comment that the first fish caught on Sat was cleaned early on in the day and aside from the odd egg in the gullet it was rammed fill of who knows how many green caddis.  Went to Barry Greigs and purchased some of theirs, also got a different variety from Creel.  Barry's worked like glo bugs, Creels, looked great and closer to what was in the trouts stomach but didn't get a boo.

You know my set up...they were taking the caddis on the 1st fly 2 inches up from the split shot.

try latex caddis or putting no nails on your green ones. did it to mine and fooled some pretty whily backcountry trout easy enough. saw it in a fishing mag somewhere a while ago. apparently the translucence is reall attractive to fish as it no doubt is if youve ever seen a caddis 'in the flesh' with their somewhat translucent bodies

tight lines

Yep Geoff I get it.  Had a closer look at the ones that did the business and they have a small holographic strip where the flash back bit normally goes and a thin stip down the top of the body...
