How many of you have accidentally (i.e. not while fishing) broken a trout rod?
I did yesterday in the wind at Taupo, walking out through one door, the door behind me slammed on the tip of the rod, 4" down from the top. The door was fully closed and when I opened it the rod tip had a neat double right angled bend and was nice and floppy.
I cried!
Catch n Release laughed, I may never forgive him.

Got into reading a book or two about casting - went out on the spare section next door and tried a bow and arrow cast - snapped half way down the tip section of a loaned 4 piece rod , i was gutted ! - then tried to get a new tip section, and found out the model was no longer made ..... still appologising to the rod owner ! haha

Yeah! The car door did me in!
Lucky we had the technology at the time for a re-build.
Shane should be more sensitive. We anglers form special attachments to our gear, even talk to the more favoured pieces at times. Shame on you Shane for not offering your condolences to Kotuku!!!

Kotuku had just finished giving me grief about how long it had taken for me to rig his rod, and the look on his face was priceless as he tried to get out the second door of the house while his rod was lodged firmly in the first door. Sorry Kotuku you know I luv Ya

When I was learning toe fly fish the guy who was teaching me leant me a rod. The first time I went out on my own I slammed the car door on it - took and inch and a half off the tip
. I was absolutely gutted and SOOOO apologetic - he put a new tip on it and started using it for salt water flyfishing - so it all worked in the end........ he ended up giving me my first rod - a 5/6 Killwell 4-piece. Still got it.
