I was just wondering if someone could tell me what the pools above the gordon willliams where like and how many pools are up there. anything would be appreciated, thanks

That's what I did 2 yrs ago and I've never been skunked on the Waitahanui in 16 or 17 fishes.

Hey Bigfish, thanks for the cool comments man, I am pleased that your hit rate on the Nui has increased, if I remeber correctly you were a good fisherman to start with. Les posted your indicators yesterday, sorry for the delay there dude!!

Now Hooked on fishing, I was hoping someone else would post about this, as I don't always want to be the one posting, heaps of you useless forum member bastards out there are excellent fisherman and know this water well!!!!!However since you are all shy i'll give it a go.

Above Gordon Williams. The first time I gave this a good crack I had a blast. There must have been a good run of trout go through and I picked up trout in all the little runs and small pools I came across. What you need to do is go down every little track you can find and explore!. Drop your leader length down dude and be prepared to add weight, some of these runs and pools are short, the water load is essential!!! Obviously some pools like the limit pool need a longer leader but don't be afraid to go short for the rest. Bush crashing a little bit is needed in some spots.

The Waitahanui is the river to be on at the moment guys. Bigger Trout than any other river and plenty of them!!

Hi Hooked,

If you only get to fish 2 pools...locate Black Fish and The Limit.  The most reliable and fun pools to fish.  A good 30 min walk puts off the soft Tongariro anglers.  Could go on but you need to find out for yourself.  For Black Fish you need a good roll cast.  Don't get on the water, turn right and edge your way along bank.  Look closely at the water before casting and pick them off.  Play them from the bank as well...Fish both sides of the limit, one side needs big weight and the fish are generally in tight under bank or down back.

Oh yeah get Shane to take you up....don't let him show your where to put it on first cast though.

Or the last drift... you put the last drift through a pool in the Hine after i'd flogged it and pulled one out on your first cast...Video proof as well if you need some footage for the site!
