Its coming up to that time of year for big weight rods and some of you will be on the lookout for a new rig. So just to remind you about the AXIOM from Temple Fork and the SAS by Kilwell. Both of these rods are in my opinion the equal of anything else out there, and can be MUCH more forgiving than some of the top end rods, when it comes to casting.
There are a heap of good quality reels out there in the $150 range and I fully support the RIO Nymph line as my choice.

Most of the Taupo and Turangi shops have these Rods in stock or can get them within 24 hours. So before you go spending BIG$ on a name, check out these other two brands first.

Hey Shane, I notice that TFO have made the Axiom blanks available - I was thinking of making up a 6-weight as a mid-range all rounder for heavier flies etc. It would be good over hear as a light salt-water outfit and as a bass rig.... wadya think? Are the Axiom the pick of the blanks? I haven't heard a lot of good comments about the TiCR or the TiCRX, but generally most people like the Axiom..... cheers  Grin

Hey Skanky, yeah dude the 6# AXIOM is by far their best rod. I also have the TICRX and although it is a great water loader, I find it takes a bit to load up in the air. The AXIOM on the other hand loads up very quickly and has the added power to stop fish running and mends at good distance. It would be perfect for what you want. I could ask the dealer over here if he has the blanks??
