was in taupo for a couple of days over thursday friday so on thursday i went out for a flick in the nui as it was a westerly and all the other rivers were low and clear. the lower river and straight were pretty packed with anglers but the mids and uppers were still quiet like usual. there are some freshies in this river at the moment and the fight hard! i got smashed by 3 different fish on this day, while also landing a 2 both for release. most of the fish looked to be about 4lb with some bigger. these fish are in awesome condition now. there are some truly monstous browns in the nui at the moment too and i wouldnt even hazard a guess at how big some of these submarines are some are easily +10lb and youd be lucky to get them to take anything you throw at them but its always worth a try! rivers really need some rain at the moment.
