Auckland Angler Wendy with first ever Rainbow TroutIt was a lot harder on the Waitahanui today than I expected. The Wind was quite fierce yesterday and we had a little rain as well but the fish did not move in with numbers. I spent three hours on the water with Wendy from Auckland, we managed to pick up just the one fish and missed a few strikes, but it WAS tough going. The Hinemaiaia was a better option today as a few fresh fish entered the river over night. The Waitahanui rip looks excellent at the moment going straight out into the lake, it fished well on the change of light this morning. The Hine rip fished well also. Heave and leave style flies are starting to take a few fish now as well.
