Hey All,

like something out Lord Of The Rings!!

like something out Lord Of The Rings!!

If you are new to”” Taupofishing “” then welcome. I try to update the Trout Fishing Report page as much as I can but there are a few other pages of interest as well. Please have a look around and if you are a keen fisherman, why not join the forum page. I am a full time guide as well and during the season will be placing specials on this site for full day and half day guides.

Enough of the dribble!

And you know there is going to be Trout there!

And you know there is going to be Trout there!

I love April in Taupo. Things are starting to get cold and that is always good for the early run Trout. If we get some cold blustery weather come in from now on, try and get here. At present there are good numbers of trout in the Tongariro and the Waitahanui. The rips around this time of year can produce some big Jack rainbow Trout,  one of these hitting a wet fly is a big adrenaline rush!

My Office!

My Office!

Back country, these fish have had a good summer chowing down on anything that moved and they are showing it. If you want the best fly fishing in the world it is right here in New Zealand. I am still doing a lot of guiding back country and although I love the Taupo Rivers, there is something very special about getting away from all civilisation. If you like the thought of that, then check out my guiding page and get in touch with me.

I hope soon to be able to produce adds on my site, but until then this sort of add will have to do.

This is what you are looking for in a fishing shop!

This is what you are looking for in a fishing shop!

If you are ever in Turangi then check these guys out. Creel Tackle House is situated on Taupehi Rd, (just down from the Major Jones Pool). If I ever need anything to do with trout fishing this is the place I go in Turangi. Brian and Steve give good advice regarding the river and where the Trout may be. They also have a huge selection of flies, glo bugs, nymphs, leader materials and pretty much everything else you could want in a Tackle shop. It has a brilliant atmosphere in there as well, the shop has character and feels”” fishy””. Steve ties a mean glo bug and I used these all last season to great effect. At this time of year the Heave and Leaves are starting to work their magic and Creels are the best I have ever seen. Good colours nice and compact and boy do they catch Trout!!They also hire out fishing gear and they are even open at 7.30am on the weekends, (what service!!)No problems with parking either. Their special bin is always worth a look as well!!

Tight Lines for April my fishing friends
